Photos appear darker than originals

I would have been satisfied if the product came out looking like the proof. One picture was so dark, you couldn't see my husband's face. I would have like to have had a warning before I ordered the product that photos appear darker. When I contacted customer service, they said they would not fix it because that's the photo I ordered. Very unhappy
