I chose the 6" over the 4" for a more meaningful gift. It arrived in perfect condition in a black box with silver ribbon.I love the packaging. I placed it in a beautiful gift bag full of colorful tissue paper. Because only the retirement date is on it she can display it for years to come. She plans to travel extensively during retirement.

The compass is in reality as shown. It is a beautiful piece of art work. It will add aesthetically to any location where it is placed. My only suggestion is that the personal message be printed on a small card rather than the "sticky" paper used for the receipt and info.

My daughter loved the look, the inscription and the meaning of a compass helping her find direction during this next chapter of her life. The only drawback is the box it arrived in. The compass was a beautiful idea; however, it fits in the palm of the average lady's hand. I just knew it would be the size of a small plate...it is beautiful, but way too small!
