Cookies and Security Settings for logging in to the site and/or completing purchases
A cookie is a small text file stored on your hard drive by a website's server. It is not a program and cannot be used to plant spyware or viruses on your computer. It is essentially your identification card to a particular website. It is uniquely yours and can only be read by the server that gave it to you. We use cookies to help us improve your shopping experience by tracking which areas of our site are most and least popular. We will never use cookies to store confidential information such as passwords, credit card numbers or other unique identifying information.
Most Web browsers will automatically accept cookies by default. Occasionally, software updates or other installations can modify your cookie settings. If you are having trouble saving items to your cart or logging in to your account, you should check to be sure your browser is still set to receive cookies and that your security settings are configured to an acceptable level.
To verify your browser's Cookies settings:
On the PC:
- In Microsoft Internet Explorer 6.x
Click Tools | Internet Options | Privacy tab
Use the slider bar to set your cookie preference. Alternatively, click on Advanced to set your cookie preferences.
Recommended Setting: Medium
- In Microsoft Internet Explorer 7.x

Use the slider bar to set your cookie preference. Alternatively, click on Advanced to set your cookie preferences.

Clearing Corrupted Cookies
Occasionally, a cookie file on your hard drive may become corrupt. Though this will not cause any harm to your computer, it can cause a number of difficulties in navigating the site that the cookie belongs to (e.g. – old items in your shopping cart that cannot be removed, not able to add new items to cart, not able to log in to your account, etc.). If you have already verified that your browser’s cookie settings are at the correct level, but are still having difficulties with your cart or account login, a corrupt cookie may be the problem. If this is the case, removing the old cookie will allow a new cookie to be created and fix the problem.
To clear your cookies:
On the PC:
- In Microsoft Internet Explorer 6.x
Click Tools | Internet Options | General tab. Click the Delete Files button. Click OK and then OK again. Restart your browser.
- In Microsoft Internet Explorer 7.x
Press the Alt Key, then click Tools | Internet Options | General tab. Click the Delete button. In the new window that pops up, click the Delete cookies button and confirm with Yes on the final screen. Restart your browser.
- In Netscape 7 or higher
Click Tools | Cookie Manager. Delete cookies. Restart your browser.
- In Firefox 1.x
Click Tools | Options | Privacy tab | Cookies. Click the Clear button. Restart your browser.
- In Firefox 2.x or higher
Click Tools | Options | Privacy tab. Click the Clear Now button. Select the Cookies check box and click on the Clear Private Data Now button. Restart your browser.
- In Opera 7 or higher
Click File | Preferences | Privacy | Cookies. Delete cookies. Restart your browser.
On the Mac:
- In Safari 1.x
Click Safari | Preferences | Bookmarks tab. Click the Show Cookies button. Click the Remove All button. Restart your browser.
- In Safari 2.x or higher
Click Safari | Preferences | Security tab. Click the Show Cookies button. Click the Remove All button. Restart your browser.
- In Firefox 1.x or higher
Click Firefox | Preferences | Privacy tab | Cookies tab. Click the Clear Cookies Now button. Restart your browser.
Still having trouble?
A few other possibilities …
- Check your Security software settings. Unfortunately, some of the software that was designed to protect your computer can also make it more difficult to use. Some Security Suites use settings that block the acceptance of cookies from all sites except ones that you specifically allow … but sometimes they don’t bother to tell you that they’re doing this. Please check the documentation that came with your Security software or is on the Security vendor’s website to find out how to make adjustments to these settings (usually listed under “Privacy”).
- Try an alternate browser from list above. In most cases, cookie or security settings issues are browser specific and using a different browser will overcome the problem.
- Run an Anti-virus/Anti-Spyware check on your system. Malware can cause many web browser related issues.
- Call our Customer Service team. We will be happy to try to help you work through the difficulties you’re having with placing an order online. If troubles persist, we can assist you with placing your order over the phone instead.
