Omission of the year 2024?

This was a beautiful item, and was as advertised. However, I had a problem with
the personalizing part. I wanted the complete date on it, July 24, 2024. In the instructions, it said put a period after each number (2.4.) I didn't think that was necessary. Also, then there was not room to put the year (2024).
Consequently, the date appears as July 2.4.

I will still present the gift, and consider the year omission my fault.
