The slate and wood paddle were a huge hit for the newly weds. The quality was excellent except that the engraving wasn't quite deep enough. The engraving was readable but was very light. They loved it so that is all that really matters. All in all I was very pleased with the gift.

The board is very heavy and sturdy. Packaging was done well. The lettering came out very light though. Looks much nicer in the previewed picture on the website.

There are a few things I'm concerned with. Hopefully the cutting surface will hold up to food. The newly engaged couple I gave it too said they were only going to put it out for show, or, if they use it, they will not cut on it - just display cheese/crackers. Also, the inlaid piece of slate does not butt up fully against the wood. I'm thinking that food particles are going to make their way into the crevices between the board and slate. Hopefully it cleans well and that won't be an issue. That being said, the couple loved their gift and I think I would buy another one for someone in the future! They are really nice.
