Maybe it was just a fluke, but the corner in the background looks like it recedes into the back, and the object (a Thanksgiving turkey) in the foreground looks like it breaks forward through the flatness of the photo. The curved surface of the mug actually makes the flat photo look 3-D!
Emotional picture. Red handle and red inside of cup make the subject's red sweater jump out, which also enhances the 3-D effect.
